Cape Coral:
Cape Coral is a city in Lee County in the US state of Florida and the largest city in the county with a population of over 180,000.
Cape Coral is located in southwest Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. The city is separated from Fort Myers by the Caloosahatchee River. Tampa is 210 km away, Miami 250 km and Orlando 320 km.
The urban area has a size of 298.1 km2. This makes Cape Coral the second largest city in Florida in terms of area. The city is divided into four large squares: Northwest (N.W.), Northeast (N.E.), Southwest (S.W.) and Southeast (S.E.). Most of the streets above Cape Coral Parkway are simply numbered; the streets in the Yacht Club area have street names. Two central streets divide the four quadrants. Santa Barbara Boulevard divides the city into east and west, and Pine Island Road divides the city between north and south. Cape Coral is one of the fastest growing cities in Florida.
Cape Coral is tangent to the Tamiami Trail (U.S. 41) and is not far from Interstate 75. Florida State Road 78 also runs through the city. There are two toll bridges over the Caloosahatchee River to Fort Myers. Since November 1, 2007, the bridge toll ($2.00) has only been charged in one direction, from Fort Myers to Cape Coral. The journey from Cape Coral to Fort Myers is not subject to a toll.
Cape Coral can be reached by plane via Southwest Florida International Airport near Fort Myers, which is around 30 km away.
The climate is warm to hot in summer and mild to warm in winter.
Statistically, it rains on average 30% of the days in the summer months, albeit only briefly. The highest temperatures are from May to October, with up to 33 °C. The coldest months are from December to February with an average of 24 °C. Snowfall is almost unheard of in the region.
